DRILL EXAM SYLLABUS

STAGE 1

Theory:
  • Purpose and place for Drill in the BB
  • Paying compliments (saluting)
Practical:
  • Attention, at ease & stand easy
  • Stationary turns - right, left & about turn
  • Stationary salute
  • Marching and halting
  • Wheeling right & left
  • Mark time (hentak kaki) & halt
  • Falling out & dismissal
  • Eyes right & left on the march

STAGE 2


Theory:
  • Definitions
  • Drill theory
  • Words of command
  • The company parade
Practical:
  • All of Stage 1
  • Slow march and halt
  • Open and close order with dressing
  • Turning on the march - right, left & about turn
  • Salute on the march to the front
  • Forming two ranks and three ranks
  • Side steps - right, left, front & back
  • Sizing

Some of their timings are different from the way we do it, and there are some unfamiliar commands, but look out for their:
* Coordinated arm swinging, good dressing and confident steps while marching
* Smart posture during the inspection
* Impressive and united stamping
* (For Drill 2 Boys) Excellent left & right turns on the march (4:41 and 4:46)
